trust me, the bragging rights are worth it

with all that clarified

here are some of my recent life changing decisions

[and the reason for why i chose each one]

firstly. to be fit&healthy

please don't scoff

i'm not talking about skinny bikini body dream lust

i'm thinking of

being able to keep up a crazy busy schedule without fainting from fatigue

and avoiding potential medical issues down the road

i'm referring to

being careful what i eat because every fatty fried bite matters

and being mindful of my priorities concerning my free time

i'm talking about my health

why?

because today at work, i watched a forty-year old woman

spend an entire two minutes panting after walking five steps

from the bathroom to her shopping cart

let me reemphasize this point

forty. five steps. panting. for two whole minutes.

is this an example of me?

nope

am i close?

not in the slightest?

can that life sneak up on even the best of us?

absolutely

i choose health

...also on that note

Arbonne is addicting for all the best reasons
and every muscle in my body aches from a killer workout
at Balance Fitness Studio

and i'm sure tomorrow morning will be much much worse

i haven't had the days that i thought i would

and i'm not moving toward the future

i thought i wanted

life is unexpected

if it wasn't

making the journey would be only tedious walking in a straight line

and there is no adventure in that kind of traveling

twists and turns and pits full of furiously starving tigers

that is life

i've got a few things on my mind

but i am tired

tired from a somewhat frustrating job

that barely pays the bills

which i never seem to be able to get the better of

no matter how many pennies i throw in a jar

sigh

sometimes giving up and just lying down

and curling up in a thick quilt

and shutting my eyes and my ears and my consciousness

to the reality that living is hard

is the only way i get by

i am not depressed

but i am weary

there are three very important things

i wanted to share with you lovelies

the battles we fight

today has been odd

after all

sometimes i think about the day i met you

you gave me a dollar tip even though i didn't work at the cafe

simply because i had mentioned that i was hungry and broke

i had a strict no entanglement policy you know

but i made an exception for your kindness

then we happened to have mutual friends

and night owlish habits and unbridled passion for music

the first time your smile made me happy was a bit after midnight

it was cold and we were making a sweet tea expedition

you handed me your ipod and pointed to a song

after only five seconds i announced that it was pretty darn good

you smiled with all your teeth and your eye crinkles

we watched pride&prejudice that night instead of studying

when elizabeth rejects darcy in the thunderstorm

i looked at you instead of him

that was the beginning of this beautiful messy heartache

all of us were basically inseparable for the next few months

spending time with you got harder as the departure date loomed

because the worst part really is not knowing

spent last weekend home with the brother

as i am still struggling to balance two solid jobs as a full-time student

and being philanthropy chair for my sorority

i am sick

and i have a massive test in greek civ

along with a shakespeare paper and three logs on the iliad due tomorrow

mondays are horrible

but the website for the wander and the runaway

is close to completion

drinking an earl gray latte and nibbling my vegan espresso choc. chip cookie

[i'm not vegan, but those things are plain delicious]

got some random thoughts swirling around this head of mine

some have no beginnings or endings

just tangled knots with no loose ends to grasp at

kudos to the buried life

my new job downtown is fantastic and i am rapidly falling in love

with the chill atmosphere and laid-back patrons

stress is by no means my natural habitat

trying to write a paper on how i can separate my personal faith

from my academic study of religion

[it's not coming along so great]

hence the blogging procrastination

in the middle of watching troy since i'm reading the iliad

[the one with brad pitt]

and it hasn't butchered the storyline beyond my appreciation

we will see though since i haven't finished it yet

got my gypsy blood all stirred up cause of watching the buried life

and chatting with honey about our future escapades

school and friends and work has me all crazy in the time frame

got myself in a funk as of late

needed a boy and some undivided attention tonight

but a good friend who knows my heart

took me to the fountain with the waterfalls and stars and barefootness

and let me talk myself in circles

til it all made as much sense as life never does

then she told me what i didn't want to hear

and somehow everything got just a little bit better

so thank you, dear friend

for understanding and telling my heart that it's okay to hurt

i needed tonight to be about more than just him

and if it takes a stroll through a deserted park

in a short black dress with sarcasm to spare

then so be it

i got me some emotions to sort

i'll let you know if they ever get untangled

for now

know that my smile is no less for the heartache

and having grand friends goes a very long way towards happiness

this day has a particular tangle in my heart

since it is my twenty-first birthday

and has been a spectacular one at that

we skyped with a beloved friend adventuring in kiwi land

and began the festivities around 12:42 in the morning

on my front porch with blue moon and some interesting dream stories

this morning brought sunshine and billions of well wishes

[my heart is full to positively bursting!]

and the lovely meli made me lemon-blueberry pancakes

don't those look simply scrumptious?

and a delicious orange-mango mimosa

such a magnificent birthday so far

i am thrilled to see more delightful friends over lunch

at the european pub downtown

there shall be laughter and kinship and an outpouring of love

oh such memories to be had

meli got me a {greek} wine from new zealand

it was the perfect first gift

goodness, i must finish my breakfast before she gets back

once again i am about to undergo the transition

from summer freedom

to educational prison

onwards with all procrastinational methods

[including the delightful pastime of blogging]

i have already had several professors email me with exclamations of joy

that i am in their particular class

and demands for reading the syllabus and several chapters of their textbook

[none of which i currently own]

except republic by plato which is to be expected

we had our official housewarming party and there was a delightful turnout

i especially liked those hawaiian sandwiches the roommate made

oh my lands

it is ridiculously late and i have early breakfast tomorrow

so it's off to bed with me
